Hello, I’m Magsy. Let’s get to know each other a bit. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and moved to the PNW in 1998 with my spouses job. Though we’ve lived back in Texas twice over the years, we raised our boys in the PNW. My nieces and nephews came up with the name Aunt Magsy and I’ve kept it going for my little granddaughters to call me as well.
My background is in Information Technology, I’ve worked for a few Fortune 500 companies, but started working remote in 2000 when remote was not a thing.
I stepped into a roll as a Director of Digital marketing for a few years in Dallas during our last stint there, but for the most part, I’ve worked with small businesses, startups and my own brands. One of the brands led me to work with over 220 retailers and one of the startups, I brought in a $1m contract for them. Suffice it to say, I’ve been around the online digital world, and helping small businesses for over 20 years.
We moved to Whidbey Island in 2020, during the Covid ordeal. After being here 2 years with no ‘people interaction’ except my beauty bubble, I started With Magsy Supper Club. I’ve had nearly 500 people in my home over 2 years.
As I was imagining With Magsy at the end of 2022, on my list was to do a podcast. About what? I knew from my extensive background, that reach is always about the people and interest is about the story.
On social media, it is popular to share the ‘off Island’ influencers who come here for a “Day Trip” or a “Weekend Staycation”. Quite often, they focus on the same trails, the same stops, the same businesses that they’ve seen from other influencers or they are paid to focus on a specific business or event. That’s great, though … not criticizing. I’m a Communication Strategist, so fist bump for that tactic.
It came to me that the best places aren’t just found on maps,
they’re found in people.
I would do a podcast on the people of Whidbey Island. They are who make it great and of course, their stories.

Home Page Ads
Although I drive audiences to the podcast page primarily, I also have a Supper Club and Events at With Magsy. The home page gets as many hits as the podcast page because of the curiousity of what else I do.
Also LocalWhidbeyPodcast.com URL is a real domain but is forwarded to WithMagsy.com/local-whidbey-podcast/. If you are interested in sponsorship of the Home page, I will allow for a “Sponsored by” banner as well as the same in my email to subscribers. The average open rate for my subscribers is 68%, very high. July/August emails sent 1,939.

Podcast Audience Insights
The podcast reached over 13k+ unique listeners in it’s first season. Unique listeners are counted once. This number shows growth, month over month. When visitors return, they are continuing to be classified as hits but not unique visitors. In total transparency, I have limited tracking, which means I don’t follow visitors around the internet by their IP address. I hate that for myself, so I’m not going to be a hypocrite and do it to those who visit my site. I actually use incognito browsers, I’m that over being tracked. My goal is to have a sponsored podcast not a site full of ads (which I hate too).
The average listener has come back 9 times so far during Season 1 and page visits on WithMagsy.com (where the podcast lives), 32K+ per month for a total of 222K+ pages views from the last week in January to the first week in June. See the chart below for total site hits, based on browser and devices.
If you are asking the question ‘how are you getting these numbers?’. It’s not organic. Unless you have a viral video or popular on tiktok, organic is dead. Digitally, I do know what I am doing. I was the Director of Digital Marketing for eWomenNetwork and have worked with over 220 retailers in my career days. Depending on who my guest is, I buy Meta ads based on the topic and who the audience would be on the island and within 25 miles of the perimeter of Whidbey Island. Also most of the guests have also promoted their interview on their social channels and email newsletters.
